What is the difference between green design and sustainable design?

The ecological design process is optimized to minimize negative impacts without exhausting the resources available in the natural environment. The sustainable design process is more oriented to building a better future for the next generations. Sustainable, the main difference is that sustainability design is a broad ideology that takes into account social, environmental, performance and financial implications. Green design focuses more on environmental aspects.

Most of the time, green and sustainable are used interchangeably, but the terms have slightly different meanings. This green initiative could cause temperatures inside buildings to drop by about three degrees, which will help reduce cooling costs and building emissions. As you might think, this emerging discipline is difficult and requires more and more extensive training than many designers obtain. HK Interiors can help you discover new ways to improve your home or office using environmentally friendly or sustainable products.

But we aim to refine and practice (and eventually teach) sustainable design, recovering (or creating as the case may be) a more value-based discipline. Unlike almost any other design discipline, with sustainable design, the final product is not determined in advance. An increasing number of companies are taking advantage of technology, specifically the Internet of Things (IoT), to move towards green and sustainable design and operations. Most buildings have existed for decades and were built before ecological and sustainable architecture, design and other similar aspects became a major cause for concern.

Sustainable design is also a discipline that, in addition to environmental design, strives to recognize at least the social and economic ramifications (to begin with) of a project. Although many organic products are environmentally friendly, analyzing them from the point of view of sustainability involves going deeper. Culture, environment, climate, economy and resources are some of the problems that can affect green architecture. Whether in reference to a “green project”, to green initiatives, to the construction of sustainable buildings or anything else, the interest in creating more environmentally friendly buildings is taking off.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) provides classification systems for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of green buildings. Green, on the other hand, is a concept that focuses only on the environment and refers to the individual practices and processes that constitute the gradual steps towards environmental sustainability.
